In August 2007 Village Bookmarket opened at 207 East Main Street in Historic Palmyra, New York , just up the hill from the Erie Canal.

I had considered myself a heavy reader, but when I opened my shop and entered the world of book selling, I felt as if I had read nothing!   Reading and owning a book shop is a wonderful way to find out how much you don't know.   I have learned a lot over the years.

An early discovery was that "Bambi" is an actual novel, not just a little kid's book based on a Disney movie. The movie, of course, was based on the novel. I was shocked when I pulled a copy out of a box one day. I had to take it home a read it!

Another thing I discovered was the joys of Book Repair and Bookbinding. Book Repair and Bookbinding grew to become a major part of my business.

On October 21, 2018,  after 11 years of having an open store front, I closed. Maintaining an open store front was no longer viable. However, I am not done with the book business! I am continuing to sell used books on Amazon, Biblio, and Ebay (see links on the home page).

More importantly, I CONTINUE with BOOK REPAIR!  I am sorry that my book repair customers are losing the easy accessibility that they enjoyed by just popping in during regular business hours, but I am still here, just a phone call or email away for making appointments for me to take a look at their books in distress.

So, this is not the end, it is just a new chapter. Onward!
